ADULT ILLUSTRATION CLASSES
WINTER 2025
From House to Heart: Illustrating Home
Winter Illustration Series at The Imagination Studio
Welcome to a cozy series of adult illustration classes this winter at The Imagination Studio! These classes are perfect for anyone who loves to spend time drawing and painting or wants to reconnect with their creative side in a relaxed, inspiring atmosphere.
Together, we’ll explore a variety of my favourite artist materials, including gouache, watercolour, and Prismacolor pencils, as we create beautiful mixed-media illustrations. Our inspiration will come from the places closest to our hearts, our homes and from the quiet beauty of the winter season.
You’ll learn how to simplify architectural forms, add whimsical details, and weave in nature-inspired elements that reflect the world just beyond your windows. The result will be a charming and personal piece, a little celebration of “home sweet home” during the gentle, cozy months of winter.
Along the way, I’ll share some of my favourite illustration techniques and creative approaches that make the process playful and freeing. Whether you’re an experienced artist or simply curious to try something new, these classes are designed to spark joy, build confidence, and let your inner illustrator shine.
Please bring in a COLOUR printed photo of your house or a home that means something special to you. Since this class welcomes every kind of artist — from the “I’ve-never-painted-before” kind to the “I-live-for-my-sketchbook” kind — please bring a photo of your home taken straight on (facing the front). It’ll make it much easier for us to turn your house into a charming illustration. You do not need a professional photo! I suggest taking a photo with your smart phone and emailing yourself the photo. You can print this off at the L.E Shore Library, from a home printer at Riverside Graphics up the street from the studio or any Staples.
