PA DAY CAMP

Friday NOVEMBER 21st, 2025

Join me at the studio for a day full of festive art making! In this special holiday-flavoured art camp, students will sculpt, draw and paint meaningful holiday artworks they can share with your family this season.

Each year we love to shine a light on a unique Christmas tree ornament and tradition from around the world, to discover how different cultures celebrate the joy, folklore and beauty of decorating their trees.

What is a Lucky Pig Ornament? Students will create their very own Lucky Pig ornament in this festive camp. The lucky pig ornament comes from old European Christmas traditions, especially in Germany and Austria. People believed pigs brought good luck, happiness, and plenty in the new year! At Christmas, little pig ornaments or candies were given as wishes for good fortune. Hanging a lucky pig on your tree is like saying, “May our home be full of joy and good luck all year long!”

But that is not all, students in this camp will turn to another warming and seasonally inspired sensation by making their own beeswax fire starters. Together we will melt and smell the sweet honey scented beeswax and create a beautiful take home treasure that celebrates warmth and light.

To add to our visual experience, students will watch a stunning heartwarming, stop-motion short film. In this wholesome holiday short, a young bird raised by mice begins to question where she belongs and sets off on a daring journey of self-discovery.

To finish the day, your kiddos will draw and paint their own small illustration inspired by things we love most about winter. They can choose their own scene to imagine and bring to life on the page- wether that’s kids making snow angels, hanging ornaments on their tree, gathering around a winter bonfire or wrapping gifts. The ideas are unlimted. These tiny paintings will become gifts, we, as a class will, donate to our local long term care and retirement home to enjoy.
