8 WEEK SESSION

STUDENTS WHO CHOOSE THE OIL PAINTING FIELD MUST BRING THEIR OWN MATERIALS. PAINTING BOARDS OR CANVAS PAPER WILL BE PROVIDED. IF YOUR CHILD DOES NOT HAVE THEIR OWN OIL PAINTING KIT, PLEASE SEE THE MATERIAL LIST SEE BELOW AND HEAD TO YOUR LOCAL ART STORE TO PURCHASE SUPPLIES. PLEASE REACH OUT BY EMAIL IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THE LIST MATERIALS.

KITS ARE $30 AND STUDENTS CAN KEEP THEM AFTER THE COURSE FINISHES. IF YOUR CHILD HAS A KIT ALREADY FROM THIS COURSE, YOU DO NOT NEED TO PURCHASE ANOTHER KIT. I LIKE TO ENSURE THAT ALL STUDENTS HAVE ACCESS TO THE SAME DRAWING MATERIALS TO KEEP THE COURSE EQUITABLE.

IN THE WORLD OF OILS

Welcome to our OIL PAINTING classes where we will learn essential techniques such as colour theory, contrast development and value to create depth in painting. This series is designed to help student’s develop a language both in painting and in conversation about painting through practice and through demonstration. Colour harmony is the theme of this spring’s sessions as students who choose the painting class option will work towards the same composition in their own way.

Together we will deepen our understanding of the subtle balance between rendering our compositions and letting them form without over-working our paintings. Why? Because every painting teaches us when it is time to put down the brushes. In this series, we will learn what it means to tune into our own areas of interest with respect to subject matter and step into the opportunities and challenges of brining those images to life through painting.

This series invites a well rounded colour pallet which will allow these young painters to fully embrace both negative and positive space, depth and colour theory.

These classes are perfect for students who love to paint and are both open and excited about cultivating their own painting practice and/or have invested in these skills previously.

Students supply their own painting materials. Painting substrates (two per session) rags, and easels and passionate instruction is supplied by The Imagination Studio. See our Material List.

IN THE WORLD OF DRAWING

Join me at the studio for a special series of drawing classes where we will unpack the fundamentals of this satisfying art skill! This is a class that is perfect for kids who LOVE to draw! Each class we will develop and strengthen drawing techniques and work towards a final composition. Students will also practice warm-up and simple drawing exercises to expand into their creative potential and step outside their comfort zones.

These classes are designed for students who are 11+ years old.

This session is designed to be paired with a specific Drawing Kit, prepared specifically for the course. Students must bring their drawing kits to class each and every time. Kits include: a select range of both woodless and lacquered graphite pencils in various hardnesses, natural rubber eraser, kneadable artists eraser, pencil case, top notch pencil sharpener, shading tool and sandpaper. Students will keep their drawing kits after the course ends.

Drawing experience is not necessary but is an asset in this class. Students will leave with not only beautiful drawings but a total confidence only an art class at The Imagination Studio can bring.

It is essential that students come fully prepared with all of their materials each class.

STUDIO TIME: 3:30PM-5:00PM

MAKE UP CLASS: Monday June 12, 2020. Students who miss more than one class do so at their own loss.

NOTE

These are not draw/paint-whatever-you-want classes. These are guided lessons which teach and build a foundation in drawing and painting. Much like learning how to play the piano, these classes teach essential skills to give kids tools in their toolkit of visual expression. Students are expected to participate in the lesson. You can draw what you like at home.
