A gouda time at The Imagination Studio

This joyful, low-pressure art experience blends playful still life drawing with the delicious world of cheese tasting.

In this workshop, we’ll turn our creative noses toward cheese as inspiration for a series of fun colourful still lifes using pencil crayons, watercolour, and oil pastels. Tables will be filled with delicious cheese-inspired arrangements to sketch, explore, and interpret in your own wonderfully unique way. Think quirky colour, loose lines, layered textures, and absolutely zero pressure to “get it right.”

No experience is needed, this class is designed for all skill levels, from curious beginners to seasoned creatives looking to loosen up and have fun.

Cheese has a long and fascinating history in art, appearing in still lifes for centuries as a symbol of comfort, celebration, abundance, and everyday beauty.

In this art class, local cheesemonger Sarah will guide us through the stories, history, and personalities behind the cheeses we’re drawing- from how they’re made to where they come from and why they taste the way they do.

And yes… the best part is that you get to eat the still life afterward!

Come for the art, stay for the cheese, and leave with colourful creations, new discoveries, and maybe a new favourite cheese.

Sarah McNulty is a professional cheesemonger with 8 years of experience in the cheese industry. She has twice represented Ontario at the Canadian Cheesemonger Championships, she received top marks for her ability to create stunning visual displays that celebrate not only the diversity of the cheeses but also push boundaries on how they are displayed. A passionate storyteller, Sarah believes that first and foremost her job is to be a steward and champion for the land, animals, and cheesemakers that bring delicious cheese to our tables.

INVESTMENT: $100 + HST
STUDIO TIME: 6PM-8PM (2 hours)
AGES 18+

DATES: Tuesday June 9th, 2026.

All class materials are provided.

If chilly weather is upon us, please bring slippers and a not precious sweater. THE STUDIO IS LOCATED IN AN OLD, UNIQUE BUILDING.

REFUNDS WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR CUSTOMERS WITHIN THE FIRST 7 DAYS AFTER REGISTRATION. PLEASE NOTE A $50 NON-REFUNDABLE BOOKING FEE WILL BE APPLIED TO ALL REFUNDS WITHIN THIS TIME. REFUNDS ARE NOT AVAILABLE AFTER THE 7 DAY BOOKING PERIOD. YOU ARE ABLE TO TRANSFER YOUR SPOT TO A FRIEND IF YOU CAN NO LONGER ATTEND THE COURSE. STUDENTS WHO MISS CLASS, DO SO AT THEIR OWN LOSS.
