Face Painting by The Imagination Studio

offering professional face painting services in the blue mountains and beyond.

Around here, face painting is really about becoming something magical for a little while.

As a professional artist, art educator, and studio owner, I approach face painting the same way I approach all of my work: with imagination, intention, and artistry. Each design is hand-painted and thoughtfully created to help children step into a magical version of themselves, whether that’s a shimmering butterfly, a natural woodland animal, or a radiant mythical creature.

My specialty is whimsical, animal and nature-inspired designs that lend themselves so beautifully to the world of imagination. I don’t offer licensed characters or commercial cartoon designs. Instead, I create original artwork that allows children to explore their creativity and identity through transformation and play.

What makes this experience special is not just the painting, it’s the moment a child sees themselves in the mirror and lights up. That spark of wonder, confidence, and delight is what I love most.

Because animals and magical creatures belong to everyone, my designs are intentionally inclusive and gender-free, inviting each child to choose what resonates with them, not what’s expected of them.

In the hands of an artist, a teacher, and someone who truly loves working with children, face painting becomes more than entertainment, it becomes a joyful, imaginative experience they’ll remember long after the paint is gone.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many children can you paint per hour?

For full-face, beautiful quality designs, I typically paint 8–10 faces per hour. For festivals and larger events offering quick cheek or eye designs, I can paint significantly more while maintaining quality and cleanliness.

What types of designs do you offer?

I specialize in elevated animal designs, earthy whimsical and colourful. I also specialize in mythical creatures and magical elements — think colorful animals, magical dragons, woodland creatures, beautiful birds and butterflies, unicorns, and more. I do not offer licensed characters (such as superheroes or cartoon characters), as my work focuses on artistic transformation rather than replicas.

Do you travel for events?

Yes. I am based in The Blue Mountains and travel throughout the surrounding area and beyond for birthday parties, festivals, community celebrations, and corporate events. Travel fees will apply depending on location outside my local radius. Travel fees apply when the event is more than 30 minutes from Clarksburg. Parking fees must be paid to artist with booking payment.

What kind of paint do you use?

Face paint isn't paint, it's cosmetic makeup specifically for skin but we call it paint because it is applied with brushes. I use high-quality, professional-grade, skin-safe face paints specifically designed for cosmetic use. All products are safe, water-based, and easily removed with soap and water. Our brushes and sponges are cleaned with antibacterial soap and/or alcohol. At the artist's discretion, we won't paint skin with any kind of condition such as conjunctivitis, cuts, sunburn, or other rash. If you are concerned about allergies or if you have sensitive skin please request a patch test prior to being painted. I use only skin / makeup grade poly glitters.

How long does face painting last?

With proper care, designs typically last for several hours. Avoid rubbing the face, excessive sweating, or getting wet to maintain the best results.

How do I book?

Simply reach out through the contact form with your event date, location, and type of event. I will confirm availability and guide you through the next steps.

Do you require prepayment?

Yes. All services must be pre-paid and booked prior to your event. I'll send you a booking link where you can secure your date and pay directly through my website. If it's easier I also accept e-transfer.

Do I have to pay for your set up and teardown time?

No, I get there early enough to be ready to start right when your booking begins.

How many artists can I book?

For full-face designs and private parties, I am your dedicated artist. For larger festivals, community events, or high-volume bookings, it may be possible to arrange an additional professional face painter upon request to accommodate your crowd efficiently.

Do you bring your own setup?

I bring all professional paints, tools, and supplies needed for the event. I require a sturdy table and two chairs (one for the painter and one for the guest). If your event is outdoors, I also require adequate shade and shelter to ensure comfort, safety, and the best painting conditions.

Do you paint rain or shine?

Yes. Face painting services run rain or shine, and cancellations due to weather are not permitted. For outdoor events, please arrange a covered area such as a tent, pavilion, or indoor backup location in case of rain or excessive sun. Proper shelter is required to protect both equipment and guests.

Can you paint my toddler’s face?

For safety and comfort reasons, I offer face painting for children ages three and up. Younger children often have more sensitive skin and may not enjoy sitting still for the application process. Thank you for understanding as I prioritize a positive and safe experience for every guest.

Can you stay longer if more children arrive?

Face painting services are booked by the hour, and I paint the final face at the agreed-upon end time stated in your contract. I am unable to extend services or add “just one more” once the booking time has concluded, even if the event begins later than scheduled.

If you anticipate a larger guest count, I recommend booking additional time in advance to ensure everyone has an opportunity to participate. It is the host’s responsibility to communicate the scheduled end time to guests.

How do I remove the face paint?

Face paint is formulated to be easily removed with mild soap, warm water, and a soft washcloth. Gently lather and wipe away the design rather than scrubbing. Some highly pigmented colors may leave a faint tint on the skin temporarily — if this happens, continue washing gently and know that it will fade completely within a day or two.

If paint transfers onto clothing, treat the area promptly with a stain remover such as OxiClean or a pre-treatment spray before laundering with regular detergent. Avoid hot water until the stain has been treated.

Booking Etiquette

When you book a face painting service, you are reserving a specific date and time exclusively for your event. By securing this spot, you acknowledge that the Artist will not be available to provide other services, teach classes, or run programs during that time. Please respect the Artist’s schedule and understand that bookings are final; future credits or “make-up” sessions cannot be provided.
